Choosing the Right Wick
Selecting the proper candle wick to match the many combinations
of wax additives, fragrances, color and gel available in todays
candle market can require some time and effort. Wick selection is
probably the most important decision of the candle maker. It is
imperative to select the correct wick so the candle will burn slowly
with an even flame and minimal smoke and soot. Keep in mind a
good candle requires a good wick.

CRITERIA
- Consistent flame size.
- Minimal blooming (carbon deposits)
- Good relationship between the candle diameter
and flame size
- Minimal after glow
after the flame is extinguished
- Burning with as little smoke as possible
- Well-formed
wax pool
- Moderate temperature of container
- No dripping
